Around the World in a Day is Prince's seventh studio album (& the third album to feature his backing band, The Revolution). The album was released on April 21, 1985 on Warner Bros. Records & Paisley Park REcords.
"Around the World in a Day" somewhat departed from the commercial sound of Prince's previous album "Purple Rain" and saw Prince experimenting with psychedelic styles and more opulent textures.
In compliance with Prince's wishes, the record company released the album with minimal publicity & withheld accompanying singles until almost a month after the album was released.
Even though the album received mixed reception, it sold relatively well, topped the Billboard 200 & was certified Gold.
